Communication and Curriculum
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
- Benjamin Franklin
Communication is key
Communication between ourselves and you as parents is vital in maintaining our high standards of care and staff will always be available to talk to you about your child's day and their achievements. We encourage parental involvement during your child's time with us and welcome any comments, questions or ideas. We use an online system to record observations, next steps and reports and this is accessible to you at all times via an exclusive log in system You will be kept up to date with news regarding the nursery via a newsletter sent to you by e-mail (or accessible via this website). Parents evenings are arranged to ensure you have the opportunity to talk with your child's key worker about your child's time at nursery and to discuss their progress and next steps together.
Curriculum
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework across the nursery. This is mandatory for early years providers to follow and continues through until the end of the reception year at school. This along with your child's online learning journal allows us to plan and record developments and monitor their progress which is updated daily and shared with you as and when you want to view it through your own log in system.
There are seven areas of learning and development that we follow, these are broken down into three Prime areas and four Specific Area of learning:
Prime areas
Personal, Social an Emotional Development
Physical Development
Communication and Language
In order to extend on the children's learning experiences we occasionally go off site into the local community and make visits to the park, library and church. Safety is paramount during these times and increased staff: child ratio is met. Alongside this, throughout the year we arrange visits to tie in with our planned topics, from police officers, refuse collectors, animal welfare companies, dental hygienists and fire fighters and such like to talk to the children about the roles they have in the community and where possible show them what they do.
